KUCHING: Three hundred and sixty-six accidents were recorded in the state from Dec 18 to 25 this year compared to 354 for the same period last year.
The statistics were given by the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement, Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu.
Seven fatal accidents were also recorded from Dec 18 to Dec 25 this year compared to four for the same period last year.
No critical injury cases were recorded from Dec 18 to Dec 19 this year compared to four cases for the same period last year.
From Dec 18 to Dec 25 this year, two minor injury cases were recorded compared to four cases for the same period last year.
Meanwhile, 4,328 summonses were issued from Dec 18 to Dec 25 this year compared to 4,925 for the same period last year. 625 vehicles were involved in accidents from Dec 18 to Dec 25 this year compared to 606 for the same period last year.
The state-level “Ops Selamat” campaign, held in conjunction with the Christmas celebration, was launched in Sibu on Dec 18. It will continue until January 1 next year.
