Man found dead after slipping into drain

BINTULU: A man was found dead in a drain after slipping while using a wooden board to cross the drain in Paragon area yesterday (Nov 15).

The victim’s identity remains unknown, as no identification documents were found on him.

Bintulu police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit said they received information regarding the discovery around 12.45 pm, and a team accompanied by paramedics was deployed to the scene near a primary school.

“The victim is believed to have slipped into the two-metre-deep drain, sustaining a head injury while attempting to cross it with a small wooden board.

“Investigations found no signs of foul play at the scene,” he said.

The case has been classified as sudden death.

Batholomew urged individuals who may have lost a family member, to contact the investigating officer Sgt Ahmad Amir Youb Bahari at 013-5653756 or the Bintulu police operations room at 086-318304.
