MULU: The Tagang system that is being worked on is able to preserve the beauty of the environment of Sarawak.

According to Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, Sarawak is a state that is rich in natural diversity.

He said with it, everyone had to bear a great responsibility to ensure that this beauty was well preserved for future generations.

“The Tagang system also brings with it a variety of attractive agro-tourism products, including homestays, local culture, fishing, jungle trekking, river activities and research opportunities.

“Therefore, this is the best opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature in Sarawak,” he said when speaking at the launching ceremony of the Tagang System Project in Sungai Melinau and Sungai Pala here, recently.

The programme, which was organised by the Sarawak Forestry Department (SFC) and the Sarawak Agriculture Department, aimed to preserve the river ecosystem, especially in the Mulu area.

After the ceremony, Gerawat and others went to Sungai Melinau to feed the fish that had been released earlier as a symbolic gesture for the launching ceremony.
