KUCHING: A historic moment is set to unfold as Datuk Mancha Ata, a Dayak from Kota Samarahan, steps into the role of the 28th Sarawak Police Commissioner today (Nov 10).

The official transfer of responsibilities, marking the transition from outgoing Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri to the incoming Datuk Mancha Ata, will take place at the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).

It will also be witnessed by Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.

Yesterday (Nov 9) after a press conference, Mohd Azman with a smile on his face, expressed his confidence in the incoming Police Commissioner, stating, “Tomorrow, he will lead (Sarawak IPK).”

Mohd Azman’s promotion, meanwhile, sees him taking up the position of the new director for the Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department.

In addition to the transition of Police Commissioner duties, there will also be the handover of Deputy Police Commissioner responsibilities.

Mancha Ata will pass the baton to Datuk Ibrahim Darus, who held the position of Bukit Aman Special Branch (E1) principal assistant director.
