KOTA SAMARAHAN: An elderly woman was left shaken after a supposed deliveryman snatched her necklace at her house in Kampung Sindang Baru.

Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Brodie Brangka said the incident happened at around 2 pm along Jalan Datuk Mohammad Musa on Saturday.

He stated that an unidentified man had approached the 67-year-old resident under the pretext of delivering perfume but, the victim denied any purchase of perfume.

The situation escalated when the suspect requested permission to use the victim’s toilet, to which the owner allowed.

“Once inside, the suspect brandished a knife and snatched the victim’s necklace, which led to a struggle between the two.

“The suspect also sought to take the victim’s bracelet. However, time was not on the side of the robber, who hastily fled the scene in a black Myvi/Axia car with his accomplice,” he said in a statement.

The shaken victim promptly reported the incident to the police and a team was deployed to conduct their investigation.

Investigations found that the victim was alone at home during the incident and the struggle happened in the kitchen.

Brodie said the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, which carries up to 20 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.

In view of this, the public is urged to exercise caution and be wary of the modus operandi used by robbers, who arrive unannounced at their doorstep and request entry into their homes.
