KUCHING: Football is the unifying force, according to Kota Sentosa assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

He said the sport can foster a sense of unity among the diverse communities in the country.

“Football is a beautiful game and a universal sport,” he said.

“Playing sports with friends from different ethnic backgrounds can help bring together people of various races and skin colours,” he said when officiating at the presentation ceremony of the YB Wilfred Yap Yau Sin Cup for 7-a-side football competition organised by the Youth Sports and Recreation Bureau of Kampung Sungai Tapang Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) on Sunday.

“Congratulations to the Youth Sports & Recreation Bureau and JKKK of Kampung Sungai Tapang for their efforts in using football to showcase the unity and harmony of every ‘anak Sarawak’,” he added.

Pemanca John Tambi, Penghulu Jakup Buan, and Tuai Rumah Luha Bunggum were also present.
