KUCHING: Advisor of Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHEDA) Kuching Branch, Sim Kiang Chiok praised Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg for his new vision and mission to propel our country forward in the digital economy when he announced eight actions to set the necessary tools, regulatory framework and market for our state to catch up and compete in the global market.

“One of the eight actions is the setting up a Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS). We have the financial resources to assist Sarawak and we do
not have to compete with the 90% of the rest of the country to use this financial resource. I look forward to Sarawakians’ increase ability to compete and be successful in our state economy  and
digital transformation  as proposed by our CM. DBOS is set up to finance four strategic projects namely ICT infrastructure, power generation
including oil & gas, urban public transport, services sector including healthcare and tourism,” he said.

Sim who is also Stakan SUPP chairman, said the other sectors of the economy are not considered and his hope is that the government will allow DBOS to finance other growth sectors when the needs arise in due course.

“Sarawak is an autonomous State in Malaysia and for it to enjoy its autonomy it must also has its ability to provide the necessary facilities for the State to implement its development programmes.
“With our first development Bank it is moving in the right direction to realise our State’s goal to be developed by 2030. We of course would welcome more Sarawak banks as we progress,” he added.
