TATAU: A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched on Sunday to find a 36-year-old man, Iharani Kassim, who was reported missing after he fell into the Sungai Tatau near Pasar Baru around 11 pm.

Despite immediate efforts by his family to locate him, they were unsuccessful.

Consequently, the family filed a missing person’s report to the nearest police station.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) confirmed that firemen from the Tatau station responded to the incident around 11.15 am today (Sept 11). Police have also joined the effort to help in the ongoing search operation.

He was last seen dressed in blue jeans.

Currently, the SAR team is scouring both upstream and downstream areas towards Kuala Sungai Anau.
