SIBU: Firemen swiftly came to the rescue of a toddler who was trapped in a car parked at a gas station at Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg here yesterday (August 4).
Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie, in a statement today (August 5), said that they received a distress call regarding the incident at around 4.54pm.
He said that a team of three firemen from the Sibu Sentral station along with an emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) vehicle were despatched to the scene of the incident.
“Upon arrival, the team found a three-year-old boy locked inside a car at the gas station.
“They immediately sprang into action to open one of the vehicle doors using special equipment to save the boy,” he said.
The firefighters managed to rescue the boy within 12 minutes.
“The boy is well, and the operation ended at around 5.11pm,” he said.
