KUCHING: Several media personalities were recently honoured with awards by the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) at a special event in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the press release, the STB presented the Yours Truly Sarawak Awards to recognise the media’s valuable contributions in sharing the story of Sarawak.
These awards celebrated the best stories and coverage across various media platforms from January of this year onwards. The winners are as follows:
- Broadcast – “Aksi Nyata Bantu Merawat Bumi di RWMF 2023 Sarawak” by KompasTV Pontianak.
- Print Media – “Journeying into the Melanau Kitchen” by Intan Maizura Ahmad Kamal from New Straits Times.
- Online Media – “Kuching: A peek into Sarawak’s heritage” by Farid Wahab from Leisurely Leisure.
In addition to the awards, the STB organised the “Yours Truly, Sarawak” creative write-up contest, inviting media personnel to share why they consider Sarawak a dream destination. The winners of the contest were:
- Farrah Naz Karim from New Straits Times.
- David Bowden from Travel Write Sdn Bhd.
- Niezam Abdullah from mStar.
- Zaiful Ariffin from Astro Awani.
- Shazmin Shamsuddin from The Vibes.
The event was attended by more than 150 local media personalities. Also present were STB CEO Sharzede Salleh Askor.
