MIRI: The upcoming Merdeka Ride convoy from Miri to Bintulu on June 10 will be led by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in celebration of Sarawak’s 60th Merdeka anniversary.

According to Miri Division Resident, Haji Jamalie Haji Busri, the convoy will consist of 60 high-powered motorcycle riders from various motorcycle clubs in Miri, along with the divisional convoy team, accompanying the Premier on this momentous journey.

The official flag-off ceremony will take place at 10 am at the Miri City Stadium, as part of the state-wide Merdeka Ride, which began in Lawas this Sunday and will continue through the Limbang.

“From Miri, the convoy will proceed to Subis on June 5, Beluru and Telang Usan on June 6, and Marudi on June 7,” said Haji Jamalie after chairing the celebration’s committee meeting on Thursday.

Before reaching their final destination in Nyalau, Bintulu, the convoy will make a stop at Bungai Beach to participate in a program with the Subis community.

On June 10, the Premier will officiate at the Digital Exhibition held at the Miri Indoor Stadium. The Miri divisional level Sarawak Merdeka 60th anniversary celebrations will also take place from May 29 until June 11,” Haji Jamalie added.

He further highlighted that the festivities will include nightly cultural performances, sales booths, a dart competition, an armed forces exhibition, health screenings, and programs by Sarawak X-tive, which will be held from June 9-11.

The public is cordially invited to attend and partake in the 60th Sarawak Independence Day Celebration in Miri.

The committee meeting was attended by the Miri District Officer, Siti Rohani Yusof, Subis District Officer Norlila Binti Haji Ulis, Deputy District Officers, Administrative Officers at the Small District Office, and representatives from relevant departments and agencies.
