KOTA SAMARAHAN: In a collaborative effort, the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and Kelab Anjung Karyawan Seni Sarawak (Akarseni) have joined hands to launch Makansari Food Street, a vibrant venture that pays homage to the rich food and cultural heritage of the area.

MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos said that Akarseni, renowned for their expertise and first-hand experiences with Sarawak’s diverse cultures, has committed to a close collaboration with the council.

The first initiative stemming from this partnership will involve Akarseni working alongside a team from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to create captivating wall drawings at the upcoming Makansari Food Street located in Aiman Mall.

This culinary hotspot will feature two distinct sections: one dedicated to providing affordable food and beverages for students from UNIMAS and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), while the other is specifically designed to promote and showcase Sarawakian arts and culture, focusing on the unique offerings of the local community.

“Local and foreign tourists and visitors can indulge in local delicacies at Makansari Food Street, immerse themselves in the richness of our arts, crafts, and artifacts, while being serenaded by local music and enthralled by traditional dances,” said Minos in a press statement today.

He added that the food street will serve as a hub for both culinary delights and cultural experiences in Kota Samarahan.

“Convenience is guaranteed,” he assured.

Furthermore, Minos highlighted the benefits of consolidating local food, drinks, handicrafts, arts, and cultural elements in one place, stating that it would significantly contribute to the growth of the tourism industry.
