3 Bills to be tabled in upcoming DUN sitting

KUCHING: The 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, which will sit for eight days from Monday (May 15 to May 24), will see the tabling of three Bills.
 
Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Asfia Awang Nasar said two government Bills, namely the Supplementary Supply (2022) Bill 2023 and the Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill 2023, will be moved by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the second Minister for Finance and New Economy.
 
The Sarawak Craft Council Bill 2023, he said, will be tabled by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
 
Speaking at a press conference after a pre-council meeting at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here today, Asfia said the first reading of the three Bills will be on the second day of the sitting, which is on May 16 (Tuesday).
 
Meanwhile, Asfia said the DUN did not receive any submissions of private motions until the closing date of May 5, which was 10 days before the sitting began.
 
Asfia added that there will be a motion to seek approval to reprint the Sarawak State Constitution on the third day of the sitting on May 17 (Wednesday).

He added that the secretariat has received a total of 375 questions; including 305 for oral replies and 70 written questions.
 
Head of State Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud will officiate and deliver his address at the opening state assembly sitting on Monday.
