KUCHING: Kuching South City Council Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said cultivating a peaceful society requires more love and care while expressing hope that these values can be passed down to future generations.
Wee highlighted this point at a barbecue party hosted by the 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta foundation to celebrate Mother’s Day which falls on May 14 and to ‘bid farewell’ to the Salvation Army Children’s Home which will be relocated to Samarahan.
The party was organised to also celebrate the birthdays of the orphans born in the month of May.
Wee urged the children to study hard and continue to promote the spirit of love and care as they grow up.
“We are all aware that the Salvation Army Children’s Home will be relocated to Samarahan. After the relocation, children studying in urban areas will have to wake up early and prepare for school, and the traffic from Samarahan to Kuching may cause some delays,” he said yesterday (May 11).
The 38 Yayasan Amal Cinta foundation donated RM80,000 to the Salvation Army Children’s Home relocation fund and provided an additional RM14,400 in educational funding through founder and chairperson of Kuching Love Book Association May Loo.
