MIRI: A family of three were left startled early this morning when they sighted a one-metre-long black cobra in their living room just as they were about to begin the Fajr prayer.
The incident took place at Jalan Kampung Pulau Melayu, here.
The 28-year-old complainant and his family found the snake hiding behind a cupboard.
Fearing for their safety, the Miri Civil Defence Force was quickly alerted around 9.35 am.
Four members of the Alpha squad were promptly despatched to the scene.
The team caught the snake, the size of a broomstick, and later released it into its natural habitat away from the residential area.
The operation ended around 10.20 am.
