MUKAH: Asri Hasan, who represented Kuching, won first place in the final round of the Nyanyian Kaul Mukah Idol competition with his song titled ‘Sepi Tanpa Cinta’.
The event took place on the main stage of the Kaul Mukah Festival 2023 recently.
As the champion, Asri took home a cash prize of RM800, a trophy, and a hamper. Second place was secured by Mizul, a young participant from Kampung Petanak, Mukah, who performed the song ‘Luka’. He was awarded a cash prize of RM500, a trophy, and a hamper.
Qhalid, who represented Kampung Tanam, Dalat, secured third place with his performance of the song titled ‘Biasan’. He received a cash prize of RM300 and a hamper.
The remaining seven finalists received consolation cash prizes of RM50 each. The participants were Marianie from Matu, Nazrie (Mukah), Zuki (Oya), Khusairi (Balingian), Fir (Oya), Hasnan (Kampung Tanjung), and Allan from Dalat.
The prizes were handed over by the Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, who is also the Chairman of the Melanau Mukah Association and the Kaul Mukah Festival 2023 Management Committee, as well as Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.
The Mukah Acting District Officer Palezman Ahip was also present.
