KUCHING: Unity among multiracial communities, one of Sarawak’s main assets, must be preserved as a role model for other states in the country, said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.

The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development said unity is ingrained into the mind of all Sarawakians.

She said the government wants to maintain it and the people should carry on by practising unity.

“Our asset in Sarawak is unity among the multiracial communities. Even mixed marriages among multi-ethnic and religious communities have become one of the models of unity.

“(In 2015), Kuching has been named as the first City of Unity because it has been recognised by our country (for racial harmony and unity),” she said during her Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri open house at Wisma Sabati, Jalan Diplomatik here today.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang took time off from their busy schedule to drop by Nancy’s open house.
