KINABATANGAN: Police detained a 30-year-old man suspected of hacking his wife to death at the Ladang Pintasan 5B workers quarters near here on Saturday. Kinabatangan District Police chief, Supt A.Sahak Rahmat said the jobless man was arrested yesterday after he ran away subsequent to hacking his 27-year-old wife.
He said in the incident, the victim who worked as an oil palm fruit collector, was found dead with several hack wounds on the face and head and had three fingers missing on the right hand. Initial investigations revealed that a neighbour had allegedly seen the man outdoor while holding a parang in his hand at about 8pm, he said in a statement yesterday.
He said after the incident, the man then ran towards the river pursued by several security guards but he escaped. He said the motives of the incident so far were believed to have resulted from a misunderstanding between the victim and her husband when they were in the kitchen. He said the victim’s body was found lying in the worker’s living room. The investigation also found that Indonesian couple had no identification documents, he added.- Bernama
