KUCHING: The Sarawak Mosque Welfare Trust (LAKMNS) recently distributed 30,000 packets of bubur lambuk to the public.
The Masja-Sa Porridge distribution programme, which ran from Apr 2 to Apr 11, was an annual effort by the Mosques Management Department of LAKMNS in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) collaborated with LAKMNS on the last day of the programme as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative named Ramadan Solidarity Programme.
According to the deputy chief executive officer of LAKMNS, Mohamad Feisal Said, throughout the 10-day period, up to 3,000 packets of bubur lambuk were prepared and distributed at Masjid Jamek Sarawak and Masjid Bandaraya Kuching daily.
“Apart from the collaboration with SOCSO, we also received help from Masja-Sa Youth Club, and volunteers from other non-governmental organisations, where they contributed manpower to prepare and distribute the porridge.
“As for this year’s distribution, we also implemented the drive-thru concept for the public to pick up the porridge, thereby improving efficiency and saving time,” he told reporters at the distribution of porridge at Masjid Jamek Sarawak yesterday (Apr 11).
LAKMNS is also calling on the public to take part in upcoming programmes in conjunction with Ramadan, namely the Al-Quran Khatam ceremony at the Masjid Jamek Sarawak on Apr 16, and the last 10 nights of Iktikaf at Masjid Jamek and Masjid Bandaraya Kuching on April 11 to 20.
