KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg took the opportunity to break fast with police officers at the Sarawak Contingent police headquarters here yesterday.

The event also saw the presentation of donations in the form of cash and food baskets to 10 orphans of police personnel.

Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri, earlier in his speech, said members of the police force will maintain their commitment to safeguard the welfare and security of the community as well as the safety and security of the state.

“Despite being in the month of Ramadan, it is not an obstacle for the Sarawak police to fulfil their role to uphold public peace and order,” he said.

Abang Johari (3rd right) joins the congregation in performing isyak and terawih prayers.

Azman said the police will maintain a positive relationship with the Sarawak government while striving to enhance the level of service provided to the local community.

Later, the Premier also joined the police force in performing Isyak and Terawih prayers.

Aso present were Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Police Family Association (PERKEP) chairperson Datin Nassariah Mohd Nassir, Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Datuk Mancha Ata and former deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Jamil Johari.
