KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here fined a local man RM7,800 for possessing 0.30g of syabu and for abusing drugs.
Yeremiah Tommy, 46, from Batu Kawa pleaded guilty to three charges before two Magistrates.
He was charged with possessing the prohibited substance in a car in front of a restaurant at Jalan Kempas around 12.05am on May 13, 2022.
For the offence, Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali imposed a fine of RM2,900 or six months in prison.
The second and third charges accused him of abusing amphetamine and methamphetamine.
He was found positive for drugs when he was arrested on Dec 7, 2021 and was arrested again on May 13, 2022.
Magistrate Syarifah handed him a fine of RM2,100 or three months imprisonment on the second charge whereas on the third Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi imposed a fine of RM2,800 or three months in prison.
Insp Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin and Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the cases.
