KUCHING: A total of 100 food baskets were distributed during the Bubur Lambuk and Sumbangsih Ramadan Media Sarawak programme at Metrocity, Matang here yesterday.
The programme organised by Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA) and Kuching Division Journalist Association (KDJA) in collaboration with director of Urusan Liansin Trading Sdn Bhd.
Ronnie Teo who is representing FSJA president said the programme will be conducted in eight locations starting with Metrocity in Matang.
“This programme is a first of its kind for us. We will be conducting this programme in three locations in Kuching and one location in Samarahan, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Lawas respectively.
“The objective of this programme is to help the needy by distributing free bubur lambuk and Ramadan aid packs to 100 selected individuals. Secondly, the programme also encourages the cooperation between the media, sponsors, and relevant departments or agencies.
“At the same time, programmes like this are a platform for the local representatives to go out in the field and be with the people,” he said in his welcoming speech.
The programme was officiated at by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS)) Datuk Abdullah Saidol who was representing Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Meanwhile, Abdullah commended the associations for organising the programme as it commemorates the spirit of doing good deeds and charity in the holy month of Ramadan.
“I would like to congratulate the media for successfully organising this noble programme. At the same time, I would also like to thank the media for always disseminating accurate and factual information regarding the state government’s agenda and policies to the people,” he added.
Also present were political secretary to the Premier Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, Urusan Liansin Trading Sdn Bhd director Junaidi Ali and other dignitaries.
