KUCHING: Sarawak is a preferred investment destination for low carbon manufacturing projects, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

A consortium of investors from Malaysia and China interested to invest in green materials manufacturing paid a courtesy visit to the Minister International Trade, Industry, and Investment yesterday.

Awang Tengah disclosed that this proposal is among many interested global investors who have expressed their interests to invest in Sarawak.

“Sarawak possesses many comparative advantages including the availability of green hydropower which investors would leverage in their production as they strive to achieve carbon neutrality,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Awang Tengah stated that he welcomes investments that are in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) that will create win-win for all via economic prosperity, social inclusivity, and environmental sustainability in Sarawak.

He assured that the ministry will facilitate the company on their proposal. Also present during the courtesy visit were Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcom Mussen Lamoh, the ministry’s advisor Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and other dignitaries.
