KUCHING: Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said cooperation between the leadership at the community level and parents is important to support children’s learning.
He said at the parliamentary level, an education bureau has been established to ensure that education is given focus.
“This includes supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-based programmes, where we work with several parties to ensure the children now are interested in the STEM field.
“That is one of the focuses if we are to be a competitive nation and hence why, we must master the STEM field,” he said.
Fadillah, who is Deputy Prime Minister, was speaking at the presentation of special vouchers for the Back to School programme held at Mydin Vista Tunku here, Sunday (March 12).
A total of 1,500 recipients from the Petra Jaya constituency received the voucher, worth RM100 each.
He said the voucher will help to some extent lessen the burden of the parents in buying school necessities in view of the rising price of goods.
Also present at the event were Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Legal, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki.
