Fined for illegal possession of diesel

SIBU: The Sessions Court here today (Feb 22) fined a 37-year-old man RM25,000 in default three months’ imprisonment for possessing diesel fuel without licence.

Judge Marutin Pagan convicted Chiong Kung Chuong after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the charge sheet, Chiong was found in possession of 24,286 litres of diesel fuel with valid licence, an offence under the Control of Supplies Regulations1974.

He committed the offence at a house in Rantau Panjang on March 16, 2022.

The court was told that a party of enforcement personnel from Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sibu Branch raided the house and found 24,286 litres of diesel fuel in a vehicle trailer’s tank and five plastic containers.

In a separate case heard at the same court, a 34-year-old man was also fined RM20,000 in default, three months’ jail for committing a similar offence.

Ting Heng Yong pleaded guilty to possessing 22,279 litres of diesel fuel without a licence at an unnumbered house in Lorong Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce on June 16 last year.

Both accused who were unrepresented by legal counsel, paid their fines.
