SERIAN: Community leaders and village headmen (KMKK) need to be alert and always ready to play their role as a link between the people and the Sarawak government.

According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said that the KMKK should have a good enough relationship at the grassroots level with government leaders including elected representatives.

“This will make it easier for them to ensure that all development agendas and assistance provided by the Sarawak government can be channeled and reach the people directly,” he explained.

He also said that as leaders, they should always be sensitive to local developments so that development can be implemented more quickly, smoothly and effectively.

John stressed that community leaders play an important role, especially to ensure that the fate of the people at the grassroots level is protected.
