KUCHING: Some 30 exponents participated in the 13th International Nanyang Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Festival 2018 and nine world top martial arts artistes showed their skills in the World Top Level Martial Arts Celebrities Demonstration Match 2018 held at Crown Tower here, yesterday.
The main aim of the event was to raise the standard of traditional Wushu and gain the interest and attention of our youths to learn and practise the art.
The organiser brings up the grandmasters from countries all over the world to demonstrate their special and unique styles and skills to members of the public especially to the participants.
“We have been organising this international championship for 20 years and we should double our efforts by continuing to organise this event to motivate our society, especially our youths to take up martial arts as a way to cultivate self-awareness and inculcate moral values in them.
“In addition, we hope this event will foster new friendships and strengthen our relationships with martial artistes to participate in our event here, irrespective of nationality, race and styles,” President of International Martial Arts Researching Institute, Prof Dato’ Sri Dr Song Swee Hee said in his speech.
Also present at the event were Honorary Advisor of International Martial Arts Research Institute Prof Dr Shamsudeen Eusof Caadir and Vice-Chairlady of Nanyang Wushu Federation of Sarawak, Dato Sri Dr Yeo Liew Yian.
