SELANGAU: A 26-year-old male died from severe injuries after his bike had allegedly skidded and collided with an incoming pick-up truck along KM63, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu this morning.

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Selangau station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distressed call around 10.10 am.

Upon arrival, they found the rider identified as Muhammad Aqif Rayyan Yeo, was unconscious in the middle of the road with severe head injuries.

Paramedics from Selangau health clinic later confirmed that the victim had died at the scene.

His body was handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the 67-year-old pick-up truck driver escaped unscathed in the accident.

The team helped to carry out flushing works at the scene to ensure that the road was safe for other road users before returning to their station.
