Heavy rain, high tide cut off road leading to Rh Sumpun

SARIKEI: Flash floods cut off road links to Rh Sumpun, Jalan Selidap this morning (Jan 31).

According to longhouse chief, the distance between the access road to the longhouse from the 200-foot long intersection of the main road is under five-foot-deep of water.

The floods were caused by high tide and heavy downpour since yesterday (Jan 30).

Firemen from the Sarikei station were promptly deployed to the scene, about 4km from the station, following an emergency call around 9.25am.

Firemen advised the residents to stay alert snd seek help if the water keeps rising.

The 42-door Rh Sumpun has 215 residents.

As of noon, the residents are safe and the situation is under control.
