KUCHING: Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth, and Sports, Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hopes that the Sarawak contingent can be overall champion for the coming Sukma Games in Perak.

“We hopeD to be overall champion during the last Sukma but we did not manage to achieve that.

“However, I strongly believe that with intensive training and thorough preparation, we can be overall champion for this Sukma,” he said.

He said this during yesterday’s press conference at his office in Bangunan Baitulmakmur here.

“Everyone seems to be preparing for it and we hope that out of all this training, we are well-prepared enough and that our athletes can deliver many gold medals.

“No doubt that the other states are well-prepared as well and all the states are looking at Sukma as an event to produce more athletes.

“But we are strong, so we will hope for the best,” he said during the press conference.
