27,000 litres of diesel worth RM231k seized

SIBU: The Marine Police Region Five here seized tanks with 27,000 litres of diesel worth RM231,774 during an operation codenamed Op Kontraband on Tuesday (Jan 10).

Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that two men, aged 25 and 34, were arrested for failing to produce documents or permits from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) which are necessary when dealing with controlled items.

“The two suspects were arrested in a vehicle at Jalan Sanyan. The police then proceeded to raid an unnumbered warehouse at Jalan Trusan, Rantau Panjang.

“Police seized a tanker and tanks with 27,000 litres of diesel in it,” he said in a statement today (Jan 12).

The seized items were brought and handed over to KPDNHEP Sibu for further action.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.
