Man gets seven months in prison for drug abuse

KUCHING: A man was sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Dec 12) for drugs.

Rudy Hartono Abdullah, 45, pleaded guilty to a charge read by an interpreter before magistrate Zaiton Anuar.

The court also sentenced the accused to police supervision for two years after undergoing his prison term.

According to a charge sheet, the accused tested positive for methamphetamine and committed the offence at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division Office at around 2.10pm on Nov 6.

The accused was charged under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 of the same Act, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or a jail term of up to two years if convicted.

Inspector Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted the case.
