KUCHING: Fizikal Sihat Minda Ceria Programme by Sentosa Hospital helps to raise the morale of patients through socialising with the surrounding community, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

“It can create a good social relationship between patients and nurses. Through the sports programme, we can foster the spirit of teamwork among patients as well as stimulate their physical and mental fitness,” he said.

Yap said this when officiating at the cheerful mind physical health programme at the hospital near here yesterday.

He also congratulated the winning team and at the same time assured the group that did not win to not be sad as all participants would be receiving prizes.

“Lose or win is the custom of competition. What matters is team spirit and you all get to be happy,” he said.

In a similar development, the Sentosa Hospital Psychiatry Welfare Body also made an appeal to him for a grant of RM99,600 to purchase 20 units of mechanical Hi-Lo Double Fowler Bed with safety side rails and PU foam mattress costing RM4,980 each.

Sentosa Hospital urgently needs to replace the defective beds as the psychiatric patients at the hospital are old with other chronic illnesses and some are bedridden.

Yap informed that he would be assisting the hospital to apply and secure the funding from the government for the 20 mechanical beds requested.
