KUCHING: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Sarawak Chapter expressed optimism to see the Tourism portfolio is being held by a fellow Sarawakian again.

Its chairman Oscar Choo said that he hoped Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as the newly appointed Tourism Minister would be able to bring the tourism Industry to an even greater height.

“I hope he will bring the industry to greater heights as a whole and create more tourist arrivals to Sarawak.

“We look forward to work closely with him and his office as there are still many unresolved issues involving the industry which requires urgent attention.

“YB Tiong has a lot of experience and knowledge of the local culture and we are sure he will fit nicely into this new position,” he said.

He also expressed his thanks to Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri for her past contributions to the industry during her term as the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
