DAYANG Noorazah Awang Sohor (GPS- Lingga) has told the DUN assembly that folk in Lingga faced immediate issues such as housing and road networks.

She pointed out that based on the State Budget 2023, RM420mil would be allocated for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

“I proposed that the RTP programme be approved which could enable the development of Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) to the communities who really need it based on their e-Kasih qualifications.

“I would also like to propose that these allocations be added to ensure housing development in Lingga be expanded because the residents living in the rural area are under the B40 category.”

At the same time, she also fully supported the allocation of RM 52mil to the Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RM) housing scheme.

Apart from that, Dayang Noorazah also mentioned that RM 1.2bil had been allocated to build infrastructure such as roads, bridges and ports to improve the riverine area.

“I represent the voice of folk in Lingga, especially Sungai Pisang, Sembayang, Sinjor and Banting, and urge that further attention be given to these areas such as a bridge and access roads to Lingga town.

“I also would like to propose to the relevant agencies that these allocations be used to upgrade bridges, drainage systems and improve roads, especially in the rural area.

“The cost of roads to be upgraded from Sri Aman Stumbin requires RM5mil and these roads are not only for Lingga folk but also those under the Simanggang and Bukit Begunan constituencies.”
