KUCHING: The ‘Sarawak First’ is a powerful political sentiment that is taking the lead and forefront in this 15th general election (GE15), said Datuk Peter Minos.

The political observer stated that just like the previous state election, Sarawakians will go for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) as the wind for ‘Sarawak First’ is blowing all over.

He said he can sense and feel it in many places like Mas Gading, Puncak Borneo, Samarahan, Stampin, Batang Sadong and Santubong.

“The pro-GPS is perceptively there, I believe it is something to do with the current Sarawakian political mood with GPS being able and capable to run Sarawak. The opposition is not giving good impressions.

“GPS has the image of doing and creating good things for the people while the opposition is only playing negative rhetoric. With GPS fighting all out for Sarawak’s powers, rights and interests, the opposition is either pro-Malaya or so woefully disunited and disorganised,” he said yesterday.

Minos pointed out the ‘Sarawak First’ sentiment arose because of the years of unfair and unjust treatments of Sarawak by Malaya since 1963.

He said the time for rectification and making things right has come and it is now under GPS.

“GPS has captured the imagination of Sarawakians and also their support, but not the opposition especially Malaya-based Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) which are seen as not with the people on the ‘Sarawak First’ issue.

“People can also see and compare that while GPS is well led and always relentlessly trying to help Sarawak and in all possible ways. The opposition parties especially DAP and PKR are doing the opposition, only playing to Malaya’s tune and merely engaging in very negative politics of rhetoric and dirty tricks against its opponents,” he said.

Minos added that when comparing GPS with the opposition, the people can come to the conclusion that the future is with GPS and not with the opposition especially Malaya-based DAP and PKR.
