MIRI: Flood waters continued to rise in Kampung Long Bemang, in Ulu Baram, following heavy rains that occurred since Tuesday.

Situated at about five to six hours drive from Miri City via logging road, the village is occupied by 530 villagers and is one of the flood- prone areas.

According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, the flood water was at 1.8-foot deep and was likely to increase.

The report added, that a team of Long Bemang fire brigade volunteers were conducting the flood monitoring within the area.

Villagers have been advised to move to a higher ground if the flood waters level keep on increasing.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, flash flood cut the road link to Kampung Merutop in Limbang.

Heavy rains have caused the water level to increase.
