BINTULU: A male driver cheats death after the diesel tanker truck he was driving, crashed into a ravine and caught fire along Jalan Ulu Sebauh today morning (Nov 12).

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the 35-year-old, who sustained injuries, was rescued out of the truck by the public before being taken to Bintulu Hospital for further treatment.

The extent of his injuries was not made known.

Firemen from Bintulu station were deployed to the scene, about 80km from the station, as soon as they received an emergency call around 8.25am.

Upon arriving, the team confirmed the incident and found that the fire occurred at the front cabin of the truck.

Extinguishing works were carried out and the flames were successfully put out around 10.40am.

Once the situation is deemed safe, the team departed back to their station.
