KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) believes they can repeat their success in the last general election (GE14) at the upcoming 15th general election(GE15).

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said that all component parties in PH should unite to repeat the success in GE15.

He said PH must win this election to prevent kleptocrats and corrupt leaders to return and govern the country.

“We don’t want those who are corrupt, those who steal people’s funds to lead our country again.

“This will be something that will embarrass Malaysia and Sarawak,” he said after presenting incentives to outstanding Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students yesterday (Oct 30).

The Stampin incumbent said that every election is challenging due to the control of media, government machinery and sources of funds.

“This is something we are dealing with. All elections are a challenge. However, if we could do it in 2018, we can do it again in 2022,” he said, referring to forming the government of the day.

In GE14, PH consisting of the component parties namely DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Amanah and Bersatu formed the government and received the support of the Sabah party with 139 parliamentary seats.

The PH government only lasted for 22 months following the resignation of then Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad after the Sheraton Move.
