KUCHING: A celebration to commemorate Kuching achieving city status 34 years ago will be held on Aug 6.
Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the event would be held at the council’s compound here.
“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be the guest of honour and is expected to officiate at the event,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.
He added that the theme for the Kuching City Day celebration would be ‘Kuching’s Best Creative Food and Culture’.
“In addition, the Kuching Food Fair will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian on Tuesday (Aug 2).”
Kuching was officially declared a city on Aug 1, 1988. To commemorate the day, normally the two administrative bodies, MBKS and Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will take turns to host Kuching City Day.
