DARO: The Daro Festival 2022, which is scheduled to kick off from July 29 to Aug 7, has been postponed and will now be held from Aug 5 to 14 this year.

According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said there are 41 activities to be held during the festival and so far 141 stalls have confirmed their participation.

“There are several events that will also be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Among them is the launching ceremony of Rumah Spektra Permata at the Kampung Badong Expansion Scheme.

“Next, the Premier will also officiate the Daro District Mini Stadium upgrade project which has been completed through the People’s Project (Projek Rakyat) on the same day,” he said during a meeting at the Daro District Office Meeting Room, recently.

Apart from that, he added that Abang Johari would also hand over the People’s Project site, which is the construction project of the Kampung Penasu Mosque worth RM1.46 million.

As such, Safiee urged the community throughout Daro, Matu, Mukah and other parts to visit Daro during the festival.

He said an estimated 10,000 visitors are expected to enliven the festival which will be holding various activities for all strata of society, including entertainment, business and entrepreneurship.
