MIRI: The Department of Environment and the Natural Resources and Environment Board together with Miri City Council will hold a Household Electrical and Electronic Waste (BEE) Collection Campaign on July 23.
This campaign wants to ensure that used and expired electrical and electronic equipment or e-waste is collected and segregated to recover useful materials/valuable resources that can contribute to sustainable development and protect the environment.
E-waste that is not handled in an environmentally friendly manner can cause serious health problems and pollution because e-waste contains some pollutants/heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, beryllium and so on.
The public can bring their e-waste to Miri Green Community Hub, Taman Yakin from 8am to 4.30pm, and the licensed contractor will buy it at a certain price for the purpose of recycling and environmental sustainability.
