MIRI: A traffic light in front of the South Lake junction here will be built within this month.

The Public Works Department (JKR) Northern Zone Pan Borneo Highway team has approved its construction, says Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Lee, who was inspecting the site along the Permyjaya stretch on Tuesday (July 12), added that the JKR team would also discuss with Naim Cendera and their respective consultants on a proposal to build an access road adjacent to Vista Perdana.

“This access road will allow those coming from Vista Perdana to make a U-turn to go to Permyjaya and the Kuala Baram area.

“Another traffic light has been proposed and agreed on is in front of a junction at the Eastwood Industrial area.

“Construction will begin once the South Lake traffic light is completed,” Lee said.

He also expressed satisfaction with the traffic flow from Permyjaya up to the Taman Tunku junction.

“The completion of the Miri Airport flyover and Pujut Interchange Pan Borneo flyover have smoothened the traffic flow along the stretch, reducing congestion.”
