SIBU: Three locals were lucky to be alive after their pickup truck crashed into the overhanging end of a log on a trailer truck yesterday.
The near-death accident happened around 8.30pm when the trailer truck was entering a factory along Lorong Rantau Panjang, Jalan Trusan.
Firemen from Sungai Merah station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arriving, the team found that one of the victims was still trapped in his seat, and they started working on extricating him right away.
Meanwhile, the other two victims were successfully brought out of the vehicle by passers-by.
All of the injured victims, aged between 32 and 58, were taken to Sibu Hospital for further treatment.
