SAMARAHAN: A total of 3,695 graduates will receive their scrolls during the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) convocation ceremony this year.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg graced the first session that was held on Monday (June 27).
A total of 195 graduates will obtain their Masters’ and PhD degrees while another 3,500 will get their Bachelor’s degrees earned from the 64 faculties in UNIMAS.
“I pray that our graduates will use the knowledge that they have gained here wisely so that they get to a new phase in their lives in the working world full of enthusiasm and ethics,” said Vice Chancellor, Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suadi.
Towards this end he said the graduation is not the last stop in their journey.
“Instead, you will face a much bigger challenge in your life so you need to not only use knowledge you gained from your lecture room but also mobilise the soft-skills that had been built during your time here in UNIMAS,” he told the new graduates on Monday (June 27).
Also during the first session, Abang Johari proclaimed Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Amar Douglas Unggas Embas as the fifth pro chancellor of UNIMAS.
The convocation proceeding will go on until June 29 at Arena Gemilang, DeTAR Putra UNIMAS, Kota Samarahan.
