KUCHING: A smart city starts from the home, says Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs) Commercial Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Syeed Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman.
Toward this end CENTEX Commercial has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA).
Its overall objective is to promote, implement and manage the use of new technology in the housing and property development industry.
“This is a significant moment for CENTEXS Commercial and SHEDA where we will collaborate in multiple areas, one of it being training for engineers and technicians for housing projects,” said Syeed Hussien.
“Another would be a collaboration with SHEDA on their Property Expo where we will introduce the smart home concept to all developers in Sarawak to work together in building smart home projects for Sarawak.”
SHEDA Secretary-General Angie Kueh highlighted that the MoU signing on Tuesday represents SHEDA’s efforts in supporting the Sarawak government’s transformation towards digitalisation.
“SHEDA and CENTEXS hope to enter into knowledge-sharing collaborations with the purpose to not only realise the ‘Smart Home Smart City’ vision but also to prepare digitally-savvy technical experts for the housing industry through various training programmes.
“Through SHEDA, CENTEXS also has an opportunity to demonstrate and showcase the strength of its technology in real time.
“The commercialisation of home-centric digital innovations and devices for modern living will encourage more Sarawakians to start embracing the digital economy,” she said.
SHEDA was also represented by its president Augustine C.H. Wong while CENTEXS had another representative in General Manager Shahren Mohamad Yusri.
