KUCHING: The Spaoh Pangkah Gasing Syawal Cup came to a close recently, with several exciting matches.

CA Court dominated the Senior category, strengthened by three experienced top-spinners — Zulhamizan Tahir, Sami Misa and Mohd Shahrulnizam Suzaini. They brought home RM1,000 along with trophies and medals.

The runners-up were CCM, comprising Teruna Chali, Hassan Pandi, Hosin Pandi and Wahab Johari. They picked up RM500, trophies and medals.

KGS Bro 96, consisting of Mohd Nor Dubi, Ramli Putih and Mohd Ali Brahim and Kejora, made up of Muzaid Satar, Muhd Nursalihin Adam, Sariee Buang and Mohd Fairus Bujang, each received RM300, a trophy and medals as the losing semi-finalists.

Meanwhile, the losing quarter-finalists — TTE (Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini, Abang Safarmi Abang Zulkiflie, Abang Ahmad Nizam Abang Suhordie, Mohd Farith Rizuan Saharin), Panca Delima (Nazeli Pandi, Jamil Ling, Sazali Badarudin, Sulaihi Bolhassan), Gelanggang CB (Majalis Mat, Jamal Abdillah Amit, Ramlan Maludin), Pak Aji (Muriady Satar, Nik Khalid Satar, Abang Sukaimi Abang Sarbini, Imran Itizam Muriady) — received RM150, trophies and medals.

Two other teams — Jimbai (Othman Kasim, Bolhassan Abang Kundang, Kamarudin Abdullah) and Panca Delima (Nurul Tasha Ikhmal Ismawi, Sukrie Akim, Wan Rona Wan Lee, Tarmizi Mohd Nor) — each received RM100 as consolation.

The Veteran category was won by Panca Sitara (Maimun Seruji, Jini Uki), picking up RM500, trophies and medals.

The runners-up were Bro 96 (Bujang Ujeh, Ramli Joni), winning RM300, trophies and medals.

Meanwhile, 2S (Saruddin Sulaiman, Sulaiman Sutamin) and Raja Kayu (Salam Suut, Aiee Shamat), who lost in the semi-finals, received RM200, trophies and medals.

The four losing quarter-finalists were M2 (Muhammad Jemi, Tahir Jalani), Good Bye (Abang Garip Abang Tek, Inu Yunus), Mega Hijau (Noh Abang Kundang, Johan Busari), Sambal (Abang Hendie Abang Zaini, Tepo Jamain) received RM200, trophies and medals.

The Junior category was won by Mohd Alif Haikal Faizal, who received RM100, trophies and medals.

Second place went to Ikhwan Naqiuddin Jamil, who received RM70, a trophy and medal.

RM50, a trophy and medals were given to Mohd Azrul and Faris, who lost in the semi-finals.

Consolation prizes in the form of RM30 were given to Dennis, Rahman, Farith Haikal Mazlan, Mohd Izuan Wandy, Mohd Farhan Boneka and Firas Muriady.

The Best Defender Award saw three individuals selected. Mohd Alif Haikal Faizal (Junior) received RM100. Bujang Ujeh (Veteran) and Zulhamizan Tahir (Senior) each received RM200.

The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Bukit Saban assemblyman.
