KUCHING: The Miss Tourism International participants are in for a unique experience during their 18-day stay in Sarawak.

The beauty pageant was first held here in 1994 and after 25 years, it has made a comeback, with some 60 beauties from all over the world flying in.

“The organising chairperson, Esther Law, informed us that during the 18 days, the contestants will participate in a series of activities, including promotional activities, tourism field trips, charity visits, photography and filming of tourist attractions, including events that are going into the Malaysia Book of Records,” said Deputy Minister for Tourism, Datuk Sebastian Ting, at a ‘Sunset Cruise’ dinner on Sunday (May 22), attended by three of the contestants—from Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia—and Law.

“By bringing the event back to Kuching after 25 years since the inaugural one in 1994, I believe this will be one of the most meaningful and significant events of the year.

“Celebrating its Silver Jubilee, with all complementing and supporting activities along the journey, it is apt to bring this 25th edition to Sarawak.”
