KUCHING: Participants of an integrity course were on Monday told to be the catalysts towards the entrenchment of an integrity culture in the state.
This will not only make Sarawak a progressive state by 2030 but will see its people practicing the principles of high integrity, said Deputy Minister in the Premier Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.
He was addressing about 80 officers from various government ministries, agencies and statutory bodies, GLCs and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) participating in the Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) programme at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here.
Dr Juanda said after being certified as integrity officers in their respective agencies it was incumbent of them to ensure the best administration is established at the workplace in terms of establishing integrity in the organisation.
“Detect and confirm any criminal misconduct, alongside any breach of the code of conduct and organisation ethics while ensuring the next step is taken appropriately.
“Report criminal misconduct to the related authority and establish the secretariat functions of a Board of Disciplinary,” he added.
Director of Integrity and Ombudsman in the Premier’s Department, Adana Jed, meanwhile, hoped the public servants will embrace the ethics of integrity in their respective capacity.
“Any officer appointed to take charge of the integrity unit is required to attend this programme every two years,” he said.
Deputy Director of Malaysian Anti Corruption Academy (MACA) Zuhairie Abu Bakar said Sarawak is clearly committed to organising this programme which is perceived as a great long term investment for the state.
