LAWAS: A total of 947 single mothers, orphans and people with disabilities have received financial assistance from PERKIM, the Muslim Welfare Organisation here.
The assistance was during its Majlis Penyerahan Sumbangan Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Hotel Seri Malaysia, recently.
District Perkim chief Datuk Dayang Hajah Morliah Datuk Awang Daud said the financial help could help ease their burden as well as preparations to celebrate Hari Raya.
“We always pay attention to the welfare of these groups, not only in this holy month but also other times.
“Some of the recipients received the donation on-site while others will be given at a later date during visits to the respective village,” she said.
Morliah also expressed her gratitude to everyone who had donated funds to be channelled to the donation programme.
Among those who contributed to the programme include PERKIM, Lembaga Amanah Khairat Melayu Limbang/Lawas Division (LAKHIL), Syarikat Techtonic & Son Sdn Bhd and Syarikat Empayar Setia Sdn Bhd.
Speaking at the same event, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan reminded the attendees to still observe the standard operating procedures (SOP) because Covid-19 is still around and must not be taken lightly.
“To those who have not yet received the vaccine, get the vaccine for our common good. Our borders have also been opened. We must still be vigilant and celebrate Eid prudently and reasonably,” he said.
Also present were Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Sum Agong and Political Secretary to Sarawak Premier Awangku Zainal Abidin Datuk Pangeran Haji Jawa.
